Description
The inspiration for this painting came from an old photograph (circa early 1900s by Charles J. Belden) of horses tied up outside a cabin on the Pitchfork Ranch in Wyoming. Fascinated with the snow coming down on the horses and the cabin, I thought the play of snow would be more interesting if I painted the horses as Appaloosas. I added light coming from inside the cabin, and named it Guests for Dinner to convey the idea of Pioneer warmth and hospitality on a cold Winters Eve.
