About Jill Westbrook
Things I have loved and experienced influence most of my artwork. So at the top of my list would be: My children, horses and cowboys and the Colorado Rockies where I lived and worked years ago.
I currently teach drawing and watercolor to children, ages 8-13.
I've lived a lot of places from Wisconsin to Virginia to Colorado to Oklahoma with about 7 other states in between. We now live on 10 beautiful acres we call Starwood Glen which we share with three horses: D’Artagnan the Arabian, Scout & Shadowfax, the two Missouri Fox trotters as well as our two cats, Legolas and Eowyn. Thus, I never run out of fresh material to paint or draw.
I attended college in Minnesota graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, concentrating in watercolor. There has always been a studio in some corner of our home wherever we lived. With our two wonderful sons now grown, my husband & I are staring down the barrel of “Empty Nest” and I am finding time to pick up my pencils and paints once again.
John Eldredge said in his book, The Journey of Desire:
“It seems hard to believe that we could add anything to the splendor God creates, but that is exactly what we are designed for and what our future involves.”
…And that is why I paint and draw the things I love about this earth.
